Some catches are insanely unique — but this one...!!!!!????
We go back to a beautiful evening in July 2022. Dimitri is a die-hard angler; every free moment he’s not working, he tries to spend at the water. Every holiday is dedicated to his beloved sport as well. That’s why he’s a yearly returning guest at our Volkerak lodges, together with his girlfriend Nancy and their son Jente. Jente caught his first pike here — even in the garden of the lodge! In the beginning, Dimi rented a boat from us, but later he bought his own.And in July 2022, they were back again!
But that particular July evening, I saw them sailing back in at the end of the day, and immediately noticed something was different:
The smile on Dimi’s face went literally from ear to ear.
The rascal had proposed to her on the waters of the Mighty Volkerak!
She said yes!!!
And in the years that followed, they kept returning for their holidays with us. Nancy would make me her delicious red cabbage with sausages, and Dimi...
he now has a permanent smile on his face ;-)
